Microsoft FrontPage has its own counter routines built in, but these offer very few features. As a free service, the Frogstar server also supports its own CGI based counter system with additional counter fonts and options. These are 100% compatible with web pages built using any creation/editing software.

NOTE:  This refers to web sites hosted on the Frogstar server only.

Here are the steps you need to add a counter to any page on your site.

1.. Request a "dat" file. Frogstar must define this for you. be default, counters start at the number one, but you can request any start number. The counter will not work till this value has been defined. You can request it by email, and will promptly receive email confirmation when it is in place.

2. Set up your web page. When you want to refer to the counter in the page, set up a link like this:

<img src="/scripts/count.exe?df=filename.dat">

In the example above, you'll need to replace "Filename" with what will probably be your domain name, but the exact details will be mailed to you with your counter .DAT confirmation email.

CHOOSE YOUR COUNTER IMAGE:

Probably most important parameter to add is the counter style. Frogstar has supplied a variety of counter images to select from.

Choose the style you prefer, and add the characters &dd=XX where XX represents the one or two letter code of the desired counter image.

ADDITIONAL COMMAND LINE OPTIONS:

Options are specified after the filename, and are separated with the "&" character.  Order is not important.  None of these additional options are required unless you wish to change the default values.

Example:
